Homework
Homework is assigned to reinforce topics covered in the classroom. Expect to spend about 15 minutes each night doing homework with your child. In addition, please allot 20 minutes for reading to and with your child. I will be posting homework daily on the website, you can also check homework from your child’s planner. Please check your child's back pack each night for any correspondence.

Attendance
Your child’s daily attendance is crucial to his/her academic growth. A good portion of the day includes hands on instruction that cannot be replicated at home or at a later time. However, if your child is running a fever, has a persistent cough, stomach bug, etc please keep him/her home. Remember that your child MUST be fever/symptom-free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.

Tardiness
Our school day begins promptly at 8:30 am, after 8:40 am students will be counted tardy. They will need to stop at the office and will receive a tardy slip to take back to the classroom. Students will only be allowed 3 tardies each term. Please make sure your child is in attendance for morning assembly as there are many blessings in beginning the day with duas. Our morning work begins promptly upon arrival to the classroom. Tardiness disturbs classroom routines and hinders your child’s progress. Students who consistently come in late will not be able to make up work that is missed due to unexcused tardiness.

Behavior
In order to create a classroom environment in which all students feel safe and respected a set of classroom rules will be established with students. Students may lose 5 or 10 minutes from their recess for not following classroom rules. Well behaved students will earn "Sparkler Cards" for their good behavior (reading quietly during silent reading time, helping out a friend, turning homework in on time, etc.). Students who get  5 "Sparkler Cards" will be able to obtain a prize from the office treasure box.

Meeting with the Teacher
If you would like to discuss your child’s progress please schedule an appointment. This will allow me to have an uninterrupted discussion with you. Please e-mail me at any time to schedule a meeting. I will respond to e-mails within 24 hours.

Read to Succeed
I cannot stress the importance of reading to and with your child enough. Every day students should read not less than 20 minutes and record their reading time in a"Reading Log" which I will give to the students at the beginning of each month, I will check it every Friday and collect it at the end of the month. Please help your child filling out the "Reading Log" and please don't forget to sign.
