Custodial Worker

The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established school policies and standards. A custodial worker must maintain the assigned building in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  •     Perform regular custodial duties in assigned areas of building.
  •     Accept instructions from head administrators verbally or in writing.
  •     Provide services as necessary to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities.
  •     Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment and be responsible for restocking.
  •     Repair plumbing, electrical and safety system on the property whenever needed.
  •     Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, furniture, etc. in the building.
  •     Should possess the commercial driving license with the clean record.
  •     Project a positive image for the school, whenever the guests or visitors are in the building.
  •     Work closely with the administrators and teachers for scheduled evening activities and unscheduled events as needed.
  •     Shovel snow and salts the sidewalks as needed. Note that snow should be removed as it falls rather than after during the school hours.
  •     Maintain building and grounds security by opening/closing the building each school day and during special events as directed.
  •     Work on call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, overtime, or special needs falling outside of normal working hours.
  •     Identify and schedule work to be performed during summer, winter, and spring break.
  •     The custodian is liable to show willingness for background check and job physical.
  •     Responsible for the general cleanliness of the facility on daily basis when the school is in session.
  •     The job seeker will provide references to be verified by the employer.

Physical requirements

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including cleaning supplies, pails, and bags/boxes. Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 80 pounds, including bags of salt and furniture. The custodian will sometimes push or pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines, etc.
The employee must be fluent in English and possess strong interpersonal skills.

Lead Teachers

Qualifications and Required Skills:
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from US.
  • Holds teachers license and appropriate endorsement(s) and/or meets Illinois Teaching Certificate to meet the accreditation requirements for teaching the assigned grade level.
  • Must possess strong ability to build relationships with colleagues and parent body to develop a working team.
  • To be familiar with the Bloom’s taxonomy and plan her lessons to challenge her students to close the achievement gaps.
  • Ability to relate to the students, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and initiate different clubs and committees.
  • Arabic teachers must be fluent in Arabic and English or Native speakers of Arabic preferably with teaching experience.
  • Quran teachers are preferably certified in Tajweed.
  • References will be provided by the job seeker which can be verified by the employer.
  • Background check and fingerprinting must be done by the new staff member upon acceptance of a position at Al-Huda Academy. A copy of the results must be provided to the school administration before starting a position. This information must be kept current.
  •  Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Standard US English.
Experience
  • Successful completion of student teaching assignment.
  • Previous teaching experience in subject area and/or level desirable preferably in public or private schools of US.

Teacher Assistants

Qualifications, Experience and Required Skills:
  • Teacher Assistants at Al-Huda are responsible for assisting the teacher, by working collaboratively in a teaching and learning environment that harmoniously reflects Islamic practices, to increase student interactions and academic learning.
  • In the physical presence of the teacher, the lead teacher will deliver the instructional components, but in the absence of the teacher, a teacher assistant may be a substitute with administrative approval.
  • Ability to build a strong rapport with the lead teacher.
  • Associate degree or High school diploma GED.
  • Prior experience of working in a public or private school in US.
  • Must be computer literate, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors and outdoors. Must be flexible in low levels postures to allow physical and visual contact with students, see and hear well enough to keep children safe.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English with ease.
  • References will be provided by the job seeker which can be verified by the employer.
